"Habeam, geographer of wide reknown, Native of Abu-Keber's ancient town In passing thence along the river Zam To the adjacent village of Xelam, Bewildered by the multitude of roads, Got lost, lived long on migratory toads, Then from exposure miserably died, And grateful travelers bewailed their guide." Ambrose Bierce ![]() |
weather
Climate The weather in Western Highlands of Guatemala simply glorious; possible the best climate in the world. Over the years I've met many travelers who have been on the road for years; some of them even decades. They all agree that the climate anywhere doesn't get any better than here. Sometimes in September the rain can get a bit old. In April rain would be a welcome change. There Hurricane Mitch, which hit Guatemala in 1998 after desastating Honduras and Nicaragua, was a forceful reminder of one's insignificance in the universe. Hurricane Stan in October of 2005 was not nearly as large a storm as Mitch, but it hit parts of Guatemala with disaturous results. |
